W/C 25 May 2013 - Peak District

This week my big walk was with the Sutton-in-Ashfield Ramblers. We caught a bus to the Ladybower Reservoir and then walked via Edale and Mam Tor to Castleton and Hope - and this time, I have photos!

We started along the southern shore of the Ladybower Reservoir before making our way up towards Nether Moor. Here is a view of the reservoir from near our starting point.

......and a view from slightly higher up.

We made our way up via a very steep stream bed onto the moors, passing this signpost en-route.

At Nether Moor, we stopped for a bite of lunch, enjoying this view back towards Win Hill and Ladybower reservoir.

We then continued along the south side of Edale Moor and down towards Edale village. On the descent, we had a fine view of Blackden Edge.

followed by Grindslow Knoll

After a brief rest in Edale, we climbed the severe slope to Mam Tor, which offers wonderful panoramic views. This was a view looking south towards the Winnats Pass

and a view towards Castleton

Finally, a view from near Hollins Cross towards Lose Hill

We then ambled down to Castleton and on to Hope via the footpath to meet our bus for the journey home.

The clear, sunny weather made this an ideal day for this walk. The views were simply stunning. Many thanks to the Sutton-in-Ashfield Ramblers for a really great trip!
